International Alliance For Youth Sports develops Game On! initiative in Mexico
In its continuing efforts to promote the value of sports worldwide, the International Alliance For Youth Sports (IAYS) has established an office in Queretaro, Mexico.

The office will be headed by Arturo Cevallos, the Mexico representative for IAYS, who will oversee the implementation of the Alliance's Game On! Youth Sports initiative throughout the country.

Also involved in the Game On! effort will be Antonio Alvarez, the director of the Institute of Sports and Recreation. Game On! provides children in poverty-stricken regions of the world with the chance to learn and play sports in a fun setting with minimum adult participation.

It also addresses issues that hinder the development of sports programs for children, such as lack of funding, inadequate facilities and non-existent or poor equipment, among others.

"We are pleased to announce the formation of an international office in Mexico," said Fred Engh, founder and president of the Alliance. "We're looking forward to having a positive impact on the lives of countless children throughout the country through sports."

Cevallos is one of a dozen representatives that comprise the International Alliance For Youth Sports' Advisory Board.
The Advisory Board is currently setting the agenda for the International Summit that will be held in Washington, D.C. later this year.

The Summit, which will feature representatives from more than 20 countries, kicks off the fifth annual International Youth Sports Congress (Sept. 21-23).

More than 500 delegates from around the world are expected to attend the Congress, which will be highlighted by a special celebration marking the Alliance's 25th year of providing safe and positive sports experiences for millions of children.
